The new exhibit at the Burbank Historical Society’s Gordon R. Howard Museum pays tribute to Corporal Larry L. Maxam, Burbank’s sole Medal of Honor recipient. Titled in the spirit of honoring the community's fallen heroes, the display commemorates Maxam’s extraordinary bravery during the Vietnam War, where on February 2, 1968, he valiantly held off an overwhelming enemy assault at the Cam Lộ District Headquarters—enduring severe wounds for hours to protect his fellow Marines. Showcasing military memorabilia, historical photographs, and details of his posthumous Medal of Honor citation, the exhibit provides visitors with a poignant look at the selfless devotion of a local hometown youth who made the ultimate sacrifice for his country
